Traffic Stop by EPD leads to arrest for Possession of Loaded Firearm

An Emeryville Police Officer making a traffic enforcement stop ended up making an arrest for possession of a loaded firearm last night. The traffic stop occurred at the intersection of 53rd Street and San Pablo Avenue at about 11:44 p.m..

As the officer contacted the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, he could smell the odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The Officer then noticed a Styrofoam cup in the cup holder of the center console. The cup was filled with a green leafy substance that the Officer recognized as Marijuana, which is a driving violation.

Further investigation revealed the driver had in his possession additional Marijuana along with the loaded .22 caliber revolver shown above.

Cameron Gordon, 25, of Oakland was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public and Carrying a Loaded Firearm in a Vehicle.

Gordon was transported to county jail for booking.
