The May 2018 Emeryville Crime report saw 177 total crimes reported for the month (down from 191 in April or -7%). Crime dropped in most statistical property crime categories contributing to a 12 decline from last year. Violent crime dropped 34% from April but still remains on a 12% increase from 2017.
Crimes reported for 2018 are on a 12% downward trajectory from last year.

The reporting district matrix lists the category and number of crimes reported by district. The descriptions below are “highlights” and are not provided for every crime reported.
Emeryville Police Department, 2449 Powell St.: A female reported being raped by a close family friend at an undisclosed location in Emeryville and another city. The victim is uncooperative and hasn’t provided any further information.
Ocean Ave/Doyle St.: A strongarm robbery occurred. LOSS: Purse. Suspect: Male,30s, wearing a white hat and basketball shorts. The suspect got into a white truck and fled the area.
Chevron, 1400 Powell St.: A robbery at gunpoint occurred. LOSS: $300 cash from the register.
Urban Outfitters, 5903 Shellmound St.: A strongarm robbery occurred. Four female shoplifters used force to steal several clothing items. EPD arrested the females shortly thereafter.
Urban Outfitters, 5903 Shellmound St.: A strongarm robbery occurred. Two males and two female shoplifters used force to steal merchandise. The suspects fled the area.
Sephora, 5626 Bay St.: A strongarm robbery occurred. A female shoplifter used force to steal merchandise. EPD arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
Ross Dress for Less, 5733 Christie Ave.: A strongarm robbery occurred. A male shoplifter punched the security guard and fled the store with the loss.
IFO 10XX 41st St.: A strongarm robbery occurred. A male victim was robbed by a female acquaintance he met at the Oaks Club. EPD arrested the female shortly thereafter.
Pak n Save, 3889 San Pablo Ave.: A robbery at knife point occurred. A female shoplifter brandished a knife and scissors at loss prevention officers to flee with store merchandise. EPD arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
Near Chevy’s Restaurant, 1890 Powell St.: A man attempted to hit people with a piece of driftwood. EPD arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
56XX Bay St.: A domestic violence incident occurred in which a man choked and stomped his girlfriend.
7 Eleven, 4000 San Pablo Ave.: A male suspect hit a homeless male with a pipe.
5959 Horton St. (Construction site): An unknown suspect jumped the fence and stole power tools.
Wells Fargo Bank, 5801 Christie Ave.: A male suspect attempted to cash a fictitious check. EPD arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
Trader Vics, 9 Anchor Drive: POE: Window – Security bars removed/window broken. LOSS: Safe containing cash other items.
Fantasy Junction, 1145 Park Ave.: POE: Door window – Broken. LOSS/Recovered: Ferrari piston (recovered on the sidewalk outside the business.)
Effective Training Solutions, 1195 Park Ave., # 201: POE: Door – Pried. LOSS: $300 cash.
Oasis Pamper Bar, 3823 San Pablo Ave.: POE: Front door – Glass door broken. LOSS: (2) iPads.
36XX Peralta St.: POE: Bicycle Room. LOSS: A bicycle.
10XX 45th St.: POE: Unknown. – Bedroom ransacked. LOSS: Apple computer tv, Apple iPad, shoes, a check, checkbook, and cash.
Of the 13 vehicles reported stolen:
- 11 vehicles were recovered
- 7 vehicles were recovered intact
- 7 vehicles were recovered but damaged
- 1 vehicle was a motorcycle
