E’ville Biz: Hydrogen Station opens in Emeryville, MedMen acquires Dispensary Permit, E2 Announces Layoffs

A few news stories aggregated from around the web relevant to Emeryville residents in this month’s Emeryville Business digest.

MedMen Enterprises, a publicly traded Cannabis company headquartered in Culver City, recently announced the acquisition of a dispensary permit held by Rochambeau from their parent company B12, LLC. Rochambeau was recently granted a Conditional Use Permit to double their San Pablo Avenue storefront footprint that they anticipate opening in 2019. Rochambeau and East Bay Therapeutics were selected among a large pool of applicants for two coveted dispensary permits when recreational use was legalized with the passing of Proposition 64.

A hydrogen vehicle filling station in Emeryville recently opened to the public after previously being used for demonstration purposes. The location on 45th street was chosen for being in a key area for “early adopters” and is the 36th to open in California.

E2 Consulting Engineers, who have an office in The Towers complex on Powell Street, recently announced plans to lay off as many as 200 employees after a contract with PG&E ended. E2 has operated in Emeryville for over 30 years and just recently moved their offices.


Emeryville Hydrogen Station Opens – #36

The Emeryville hydrogen station is open for business! It is the 36th retail hydrogen station in California and is located in a key early adopter area in the San Francisco East Bay.

The station will be open 24 hours a day and is located at 1172 45th Street, Emeryville, CA 94608.

Prior to its opening as a retail hydrogen station, the Emeryville station functioned for several years as a demonstration station serving light-duty passenger cars.

MedMen Announces Closing of San Francisco Bay Area Dispensary Acquisition

MedMen Enterprises Inc. is pleased to announce that it has closed its previously announced acquisition of a dispensary license in Emeryville, California from B12, LLC.

Pursuant to the Acquisition, the Company paid a combination of cash at closing and shares of MedMen in an undisclosed amount.* The transaction closed within 90 days of signing.

With the closing of the Acquisition, MedMen will have one of only two adult-use cannabis dispensary licenses issued in the City of Emeryville, just outside San Francisco. MedMen currently operates eight dispensaries in Southern California. The Emeryville dispensary will be located in the commercial heart of the East Bay and is expected to open in 2019.

East Bay engineering firm to lay off up to 200 after PG&E contract ends

E2 Consulting Engineers is planning to lay off 170 to 200 employees from its Northern California operations next month, when a longtime PG&E contract ends on Dec. 31.

E2 began notifying its employees earlier this month, according to the company’s filing with the California Employment Development Department. Under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, employers are required to disclose major layoffs and closures.
