EPD Issues Alert for Dog Stolen During Hotel Parking Lot Carjacking

1 min read

The Emeryville Police Department is asking for help locating a missing pet from a recent carjacking.

A customer of the Sonesta hotel on Shellmound  (formerly Courtyard by Marriott) was unloading their bags early Thursday morning at 2:45 a.m. She had just arrived in town from Arizona for the burial of her deceased father.

The suspect, believed to be armed, approached the victim and took off with their vehicle with their dog “Blue” still inside.

Officers later located the unoccupied Dodge Ram vehicle near Peralta and Haven St. in West Oakland but the dog was not left behind.

Blue is a two-year-old tri-color male Yorkie with a blue collar. He originally belonged to the victim’s father, a blind military-veteran.

“I’m a wreck. I can’t sleep,” the victim provided to KTVU 2 reporter Henry K. Lee. “We’re just devastated”

EPD is asking for Emeryville and neighboring residents to be on the lookout for Blue to help reunite him with his family. Tips can be provided by calling ‪(510) 596-3700 (reference case No. 2207-0872).
