The Emeryville Police Department is asking for help locating a missing pet from a recent carjacking.
A customer of the Sonesta hotel on Shellmound (formerly Courtyard by Marriott) was unloading their bags early Thursday morning at 2:45 a.m. She had just arrived in town from Arizona for the burial of her deceased father.
The suspect, believed to be armed, approached the victim and took off with their vehicle with their dog “Blue” still inside.

Officers later located the unoccupied Dodge Ram vehicle near Peralta and Haven St. in West Oakland but the dog was not left behind.
Blue is a two-year-old tri-color male Yorkie with a blue collar. He originally belonged to the victim’s father, a blind military-veteran.
“I’m a wreck. I can’t sleep,” the victim provided to KTVU 2 reporter Henry K. Lee. “We’re just devastated”
EPD is asking for Emeryville and neighboring residents to be on the lookout for Blue to help reunite him with his family. Tips can be provided by calling (510) 596-3700 (reference case No. 2207-0872).

Story Update: Dog Recovered
Blue was located near Lake Merritt and returned to the owner nearly a month later on August 17.
Per the EPD: “Blue is safe at home thanks the community’s help! A little over a month ago, Blue was stolen during a carjacking in Emeryville. Over the past few weeks there have been many reports of Blue sightings around town. Blue was finally located this weekend near Lake Merritt! We are so glad that he is back with his family. Thank you to everyone that played a role.”

Can you clarify where car was found? Haven and Peralta don’t intersect. Thanks.
