EPD Arrests Two Men on Firearms, Narcotics Violations following Traffic Stop

The Emeryville Police announced the arrest o two men for multiple firearms and narcotics violations following a Sunday evening traffic stop.

On September 1, at approximately 10:52 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle make several erratic lane changes and cut-off other drivers near the Powell and Christie Avenue intersection.

The officer caught up to and pulled the driver over near the Bay Street shopping center.

During the course of the traffic stop, the officer searched the vehicle and found a loaded semi-automatic pistol under the driver’s seat. A database search revealed the gun had been reported stolen.

Officers continued searching and found a backpack within reach of the passenger that contained numerous narcotic pills and a second loaded handgun. A ballistic (bullet proof) vest was also found in the vehicle’s trunk.

The driver, 18-year-old William Ponce Ramirez of Antioch, and passenger, 21-year-old Gustavo Barrera of Bay Point, were both placed under arrest.
