EPD Announces Weekend Burglary Arrests at Vallejo Street & Avenue 64 Properties

The Emeryville Police Department released two community advisories through its Nixle channel this morning. One incident involved the arrest of two adults for possession of burglary tools and violating their probation, the other involved three minors who were allegedly attempting to enter properties and stealing packages.


Possession of Burglary Tools Arrest near 5900 block of Vallejo St

An alert citizen called the police to report seeing two suspects casing cars on the 5900 block of Vallejo St. The suspects were checking the car door handles and looking into cars with flashlights. Officers arrived immediately on scene. An officer made an investigative stop on two subjects at 59th and Marshall St.

The two subjects that the police stopped matched the description of the suspects. Name checks on the detained subjects revealed that they were both on probation for burglary with search clauses. A probation search on both subjects revealed they were in possession of burglary tools, (screwdriver, flashlights and other tools).

The subjects were placed under arrest for possession of burglary tools and probation violations. The subjects were identified as Antonio Grajeda and Vanderrick Vickers.

This was the second arrest that night made by Emeryville Police officers after alert citizens called the Police Department when they noticed suspicious activity.

Prowling Arrests of three Juveniles at Avenue 64 Apartments

On February 24, 2018 at 7:07 PM, Emeryville officers responded to the Avenue 64 apartment complex on the report of three suspects attempting to enter apartments by checking the door handles. The witness reported the three subjects attempted to enter her apartment by rattling the front door knob and pushing on the front door. The witness watched the three suspects walk down the hallway trying the door knobs on her neighbors’ front doors. The alert witness called the police department to respond.

Officers arrived on scene and stopped three subjects that matched the description of the suspects. The witness positively identified the subjects detained as the suspects. Officers also discovered that the suspects also opened mail packages that belonged to an Avenue 64 resident. The suspects moved the mail packages into a utility room and ransacked the boxes. All three suspects were juveniles and they were placed under arrest for prowling and theft.
