Emeryville among TechCrunch list of East Bay Cities ‘Raking in Venture Capital’

1 min read

The technology news site TechCrunch recently profiled a list of East Bay cities that are attracting a disproportionate amount of venture capital funding. While it’s no surprise that Bay Area cities are high on this list, it may be that little Emeryville is among the top cities.

The author makes some unfortunate references to us being the home of Jamba Juice and Leapfrog (Jamba recently moved to Texas and Leapfrog subleased their office to SurveyMonkey after being acquired by VTech), but correctly identifies us as the home of Pixar and IKEA (the author does not apparently read The E’ville Eye ;).

TechCrunch lists Zymergen and Bolt Threads among our Bio Corridor companies that have raised more than half a billion dollars in venture funding over the past three years.

Companies in this San Francisco Bay Area city of around 10,000 have raised more than half a billion dollars in venture funding over the past three years. That total handily beats much larger metropolises, including Dallas, Portland and even neighboring Oakland.
