Vehicle Gun Battle at Hyatt Place Hotel Parking Garage

1 min read

Emeryville patrol officers responded to the sound of gunfire followed by a flood of 911 calls last night. An estimated 15 rounds were fired in what was described as an exchange between two vehicles in the Hyatt Place parking garage. The new hotel at the foot of the Bay Street Shopping Center opened barely a month ago.

The incident occurred at about 9:11 p.m. causing patrons of the hotel to scatter. Emeryville PD Sargeant Alton was at the scene and noted that patrol officers were already in the vicinity expediting their response time. Officers arrived and located several shell casings and shattered glass in the parking lot. Witnesses reported the occupants of two separate vehicles were shooting at one another and fled the area in separate directions. One vehicle was a black hatchback style vehicle and the other was a light colored four door sedan.

A video segment by KRON 4 reporter Averi Harper:

Surveillance video from the hotel was being reviewed, but not made available to the public yet. There were no reported injuries and inquiries with local hospitals turned up empty for gunshot victims. Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact the Emeryville Police Department.

Since this is breaking news, we will update this post as new information becomes available.
