July crime report: Spike in auto burglary & theft, overall crime flat

The “Christie Core ” District 3 & 5 areas of E’ville saw a large spike in Auto Burglaries and thefts with “Honda Accords, Civics, and Toyota Corollas” amongst the most popular vehicles for thieves. Bay Street & The East Bay Bridge Shopping Center continue to see the bulk of crimes reported with over 52% of the 156 reported from those Districts (with the addition of a Nordstrom Rack going in near San Pablo Ave, this may be further impacted).

RAPE:

DISTRICT 5:

Bay Street, 5600B Shellmound St.: A female was sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance. Suspect: Black male, 30-35 years old.


ROBBERY:

District 2:

1450 Powell St. #4: A residential robbery occurred. The suspect forced open a window and entered the residence while the victim was home. LOSS: iPad 2. Suspects: #1 Black male, 20-30 years old, 6’4”, 190 lbs., wearing a white T-shirt. #2 Black male, 20-30 years old, 5’8”, 190 lbs., wearing a red plaid white shirt.

District 5

Victoria’s Secret, 5672 Bay St.: Four black females entered the store, selected and concealed merchandise and fled the store. One female completed the theft by force. EPD arrested all 4 suspects.
Sunglass hut, 5673 Bay St.: Four Black females entered the store, selected several pairs of sunglasses and forced their way past the security guard.

District 9

Home Depot, 3838 Hollis St.: a Black female selected merchandise and exited the store without paying. The suspect punched and struggled with the Loss Prevention Agent. EPD arrested the suspect shortly afterwards.
40th St. & Harlan St.: a Black male exited the back seat of a vehicle, approached a female from behind and snatched the female’s purse. Suspect: Black male, 28-32 years old, 5’6″-5’10”, wearing a jean jacket, a black shirt, and jeans. Suspect Vehicle: White 2-Door, no further description.

District 10

Target, 1555 40th St.: A Black male selected a cell phone and fled the store. The suspect fought with the loss prevention agent. EPD arrested the suspect shortly afterwards..


AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:

District 5:

in front of Victoria’s Secret, 5672 Bay St.: Two suspects driving a U-Haul truck attempted to ram a security guard’s vehicle while fleeing from a burglary.
BeBe, 5654 Bay St.: A physical altercation occurred between an ex-couple.

District 8:

3610 San Pablo Ave. a physical altercation occurred between a boyfriend and girlfriend. EPD arrested the girlfriend shortly afterwards.


COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES:

District 3:

Guitar Center, 5925 Shellmound St.: Two suspects entered the store. One suspect was a lookout while the other suspect selected removed the loss from the display case. LOSS: Beats by Dr. Ore Headphones and a video camera. Suspect: #1 White male, 25-30 years old, 6’2″, wearing a white shirt and tan shorts. #2 Hispanic female, no further description.

District 4:

E-2 Consulting, 1900 Powell St., #250: POE: Office door – Pried. LOSS: (3) Laptops.

District 5

Sunglass Hut, 5673 Bay St.: One Black male and five Black females entered the store, concealed several pairs of sunglasses into a bag and fled the store.

District 7:

Oaks Card Club, 4097 San Pablo Ave.: Two suspects used a victim’s credit card for a cash advance. LOSS: $1060. #1 Unknown description. #2 Black male, 5’10”, 190 lbs.

District 9:

Babies R Us, 3938 Horton St.: Two Black female entered the store, selected and concealed merchandise and fled the store. The two suspects returned to the store, concealed more merchandise and fled the store again.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY:

District 1:

1266 62″d St., #2: POE: Unknown- Garage. LOSS: (3) Bicycles.

District 2:

1358 Powell St.: #141 POE: Unlocked balcony window. LOSS: (2) Bicycles and (2) Laptops.
1465 65th St.,: #179 POE: Window- Pried. LOSS: (2) Laptops.
