The Emeryville Police Department have released surveillance video from the early morning armed takeover robbery of the Oakland/Emeryville Target store. The harrowing one minute sequence shows three masked, armed gunmen confront employees of the store and make off with cash.

A customer can be seen leaving the store at 12:08 a.m. just as two masked figures rush through the exit. At least one of the suspects appears to be holding a handgun and carrying a bag. A third masked gunman tails the two and confronts the two store employees who are monitoring the door.

One of the employees instinctively attempts to flee but the gunmen points a rifle at her and instructs her and a fellow employee to get on the ground while waving a bag and kicking at her. The suspect then ushers her and the male employee to the left of the store where the internal Starbucks and Pizza Hut are located.

The figures disappear for about 30 seconds before they reemerge and can be seen fleeing the store together, one of them carrying what appears to be a tub presumably filled with cash.

The suspects reportedly fled in an unknown make and model four door silver sedan. Their were no reported injuries and the amount of the loss is unknown at this time.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the EPD at (510) 596-3700.

This Target store is located on the Oakland side of the East Bay Bridge Shopping Center but patrolled by the Emeryville Police as part of the Joint Powers Agreement established between the two neighboring cities.

  1. In this day and age, it amazes me every time I see some camera footage of a robbery. Is this the best that a multimillion dollar business can do? Pathetic

  2. Note also the angle. Criminals have long learned to wear hoodies that all but obscure even a good camera mounted at a typical downward looking angle.

    • The guy struggled to get his rifle out of its case, carpools to work, has an all black wardrobe, wears skinny jeans, and favors redistribution of wealth. I guarantee he voted for Bernie.
