A triggered alarm alerted authorities to an in-progress Commercial Burglary resulting in two arrests early Saturday morning August 27th. The EmeryTech building, where the attempted burglary occurred, is home of Clif Bar, Reveal (formerly Center for Investigative Reporting) and a handful of other small mostly technology focused companies.

Officers responded to the crime reportedly within one minute of the call from the alarm company and were able to quickly establish a perimeter around the building. The responding officer, with the help of a K-9 unit, entered the facility and located the suspects.

The suspects then fled into the interior of the building and tried to exit the 66th street side of the building directly into another perimeter that had been established. One suspect surrendered immediately while the other fled on foot. An EPD officer gave chase and the second suspect was captured approximately a block from the scene.

Emeryville Police identified the suspects as Eddie Clark, 57, and Vernon Walker, 56. There were no reported injuries and all property was returned to the owners.
