A reported Berkeley armed robbery near the UC campus ended up with two suspects in custody after a vehicle pursuit and subsequent foot-chase in Emeryville. The video footage by the KTVU weather-cam captured the harrowing dash across twelve lanes of I-80 from behind the Powell Street Plaza to the Frontage Road.

After a high-speed pursuit through Berkeley streets and aborted highway pursuit, the suspects vehicle apparently became disabled and exited at the Powell Street off-ramp. The vehicle was spotted at the Denny’s parking lot where one suspect was quickly detained at the scene while the other escaped on foot. The suspect fled across Powell and apparently climbed the barriers behind Marshall’s on to the freeway where he managed to run across all twelve lanes of speeding traffic without being struck. He was eventually detained near the Chevy’s parking lot according to Emeryville Police spokesperson Brian Head. Emeryville Police assisted by locking-down stores in the Plaza including the Trader Joe’s grocery store near its closing time of 9PM. A gun was recovered from the trunk of the suspects car.
