BREAKING: Hazmat Team Responds to Fire at EmeryvilleStation East Building

A small fire broke out at the EmeryStation East building located between Hollis and Peladeau this afternoon about 3 p.m.. The fire led to the dispatch of an Alameda County Fire Department Hazardous Material (Hazmat) Response Vehicle.

According to ABC 7 News, a chemical reaction started the small fire leading to the evacuation of the building. The building is home to the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI), Amyris and a host of other small Biotech firms.

The scene was cleared relatively quickly and there were no reported injuries. Emeryville Police remained on the scene to provide traffic Control. The amount of damage to the facility is unknown at this time.
