April 2017 Emeryville Crime Report: Auto Burglaries continue staggering pace
The April 2017 Emeryville Crime report saw 201 total crimes reported for the month (down from 234 in March or -14%). Violent crime overall remains on a 10% decline from last year while property crimes are seeing a 20% increase. Auto burglaries are by far the largest contributor to this increase with a 91% surge. Petty thefts are seeing a 23% decline for the year.
The crimes reported for the year are on an +16% trajectory from 2016.

The reporting district matrix lists the category and number of crimes reported by district. The descriptions below are “highlights” and are not provided for every crime reported.
6401 block of Shellmound St.: A sexual assault occurred. The victim knows the suspect.
IFO 3994 Adeline St.: A suspect pushed the victim down, got into the victim’s vehicle and fled. The victim’s vehicle was idling at the time of the theft. Vehicle: 6D76336 1992 Chevy Van, white.
Urban Outfitters, 5903 Shellmound St.: A shoplifter used force to steal clothing from the business.
Zumiez, 5677 Bay St.: A juvenile shoplifter concealed items and brandished a knife at an employee. EPD arrested the juvenile shortly thereafter.
65th & Christie Ave.: A domestic violence incident resulted in a physical fight, in which the male punched and kicked the female. EPD arrested the male shortly thereafter.
7 Captain Dr.: A domestic violence incident resulted in a male hitting and kicking his wife.
Ohlone Way & Shellmound St.: A motorist nudged a cyclist from behind while she was on her bicycle. The motorist then made a U-turn and yelled obscenities at the cyclist. The cyclist was not injured.
5750 Christie Ave.: A domestic violence incident resulted in the male punching the female in the face causing injury. EPD arrested the male shortly thereafter.
IFO 3801 San Pablo Ave.: A suspect threw a bottle at a male citizen and struck the citizen on the arm with a wooden stick. EPD arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
Pak n Save, 3889 San Pablo Ave.: A shoplifter attempted to steal and threw a wine bottle at a store employee. EPD arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
5625 Bay St. (Kiosk): POE: Door – Pried. LOSS: Imitation jewelry.
Granite Expo, 1368 40th St.: A suspect entered the business and rifled through the drawers in the office. LOSS: Credit cards.
All About the Dogue Salon & Spa, 3850 San Pablo Ave #105.: POE: Security gate defeated, unlocked door entered. LOSS: iPad.
Kelly’s Deli at Home Depot, 3838 Hollis St.: (Attempted burglary). An unknown suspect attempted to break into the storage area for the Deli.
108 Liquid Sugar Dr.: POE: Garage door knob pried. LOSS: Bicycle.
1259 Peabody Ln.: POE: Unknown. LOSS: (1) TV and (1) laptop computer.
Of the 16 vehicles reported stolen:
- 2 vehicles were motorcycles
- 5 vehicles were recovered intact
- 3 vehicle was recovered damaged
- 8 vehicles is still outstanding
