612one Fusion Restaurant ready to open its doors to Emeryville Community

Back in July 2016, it was revealed that the lease at the former Bucci’s space had finally been acquired and a new establishment would soon be moving in. 612one Fusion Culinary and Fine Cocktails (6121 being their address on Hollis) will soon occupy the Wareham-owned “sawtooth building” space that hosted the beloved Italian institution for the previous 28 years.

Proprietors Rawitpan Ussawagasemjit (who goes by “Ohm”) and Gary Srisawat have been working hard to revamp the space and are nearly ready to unveil their finished product to Emeryville. Srisawat’s previous restauranteur resume includes owning Cha-Am Thai in SF’s SOMA district. Ussawagasemjit comes from a Thai restaurant background as well. “Our mission is to offer the best dining experience through excellent customer service, high quality and fresh ingredients fusion of Asian & American (New)” the outside sign proudly states.

Proprietors Rawitpan “Ohm” Ussawagasemjit (pictured) and Gary Srisawat are the tandem behind 612one Fusion Culinary and Fine Cocktails.

612one appears to be making a conscious break from the traditional fare of the previous occupant. “Forget about the old traditional steaks or dishes!” they note. “Our experienced chefs have created a unique set of dishes that will surely please your taste buds. The perfect fusion of Asian & American (New) Food.” 612one did not have a menu available at the time we published this story, but they did note their fare will have heavy Thai and Japanese influences. 612one did note they have retained a former Bucci’s chef to help influence their menu. “We have their knowledge to help combine the dishes together” (If you’re listening, please bring back Bucci’s legendary Lasagna).

For the interior, the “homey” vibe of Bucci’s has been transformed into a more contemporary feel. The chalkboard quotes, neon jellyfish and white tablecloths have removed to allow the wood-beamed and brick interior of the space to speak for itself. The laminated wood and earth-toned decor has been replaced with metal and rustic accents reflective of current trends. The space still feels hauntingly familiar to those that were loyal customers of Bucci’s.

Most still consider Emeryville to be an “underserved” community and the ample amount of vacant storefronts remains perplexing. 612one and other neighborhood establishments are banking on the activity that the forthcoming Transit Center and tenancy from Stanford Health Care will bring.

Ohm noted that they intend to listen closely to customers and that getting customer feedback would help guide their evolving menu. In addition to fine dining, they will also have a selection of premium wines, brews and “creative” cocktails. 612one will also feature a private dining area and feature local art.

612one will host a soft-opening this Wednesday, February 15th from 5:30 – 10 p.m.. Follow 612One on Facebook for more information.

  1. When working in SF, I often have lunch at Cha-Am SOMA, the food there is flavorful, fresh, well-prepared and delicious. They don’t overcook their vegetables, the flavors are well balanced and exciting, I find myself craving their food. I’m looking forward to dining at their new in Emeryville restaurant at the old Bucci’s location.

  2. Am glad to see a place finally opening up there. Let’s hope they don’t play earsplitting music like most places these days. I so go out to places so I can’t hear my eating & drinking mates!

  3. I’m looking forward to checking 612one out, but I’ve got to say, don’t we have enough Asian themed restaurants around Emeryville? Between Bureau, Summer Summer, Branch Line, KYU2, Jasmine Blosom, Yuzu, Noodle Theory all in the immediate area of 612one… plus the vast majority of Asian themed eateries at Public Market… heck, even Trader Vic’s and Hong Kong East Ocean Seafood… how is 612one bringing anything new to the table?

I would love to see something different for a change.

    • Hi Andrew
I’m OHM from 612one. I really appreciate you are looking for the new theme in Emeryville. I would say even though we are Asian fusion, I can ensure that our items are provided by the great concept coming out that you might have never seen from anywhere. Therefore, if you have time to check this place out, we can describe what we are. 🙂

  4. I don’t remember ever eating a steak at Bucci’s during the 24 years I enjoyed meals there. What a truly wonderful restaurant it was.
