One of the main objectives of this site besides communicating happenings in the city is to hopefully bring some pride to living in Emeryville. Our neighbors in Berkeley and Oakland have their own “vibe” and it is something notably lacking in our town. Ex’pression College students Johnny Neira, Sarah LaMond, and Kenneth Macaraig of the Ex’pression College Motion Graphics Department recently teamed up with Emeryville New Media company TubeMogul on a class assignment for “Promoting the City of Emeryville” with intentions of doing just this.
Their assignment was to create a 60 second “Pre-Roll” (Those ads you often see prior to watching YouTube or other online videos) to promote our city. The professionally done video titled “Be Here” provides a nice cross-section of life in Emeryville and includes notable small businesses the Broken Rack, Farley’s, Bucci’s & Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe. “We collaborated with all the small businesses across the city that make Emeryville, Emeryville” noted Macaraig at the premiere presented to the city council on January 21st which can be viewed below. The unique soundtrack was scored by local musician Damon Eckard who teaches private guitar lessons through his Axes of E’ville business (I love that name!).

Ex’pression is a joke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_ZvJL84sgc
Ex’pression college is run using the same shallow pseudo sociopathic techniques as the rest of the entertainment industry. All the instructors are either just as duplicitous or too dumb and cowardly to care. Its another ‘college’ corporation parasitizing off the underclasses fascination with the arts….and getting them all into debt before they have time to question the matter. John Scanlon, Chris Colatos, Hani, Clein Winzton, Chris Coan, Dan Levison aren’t ‘innovators , they’re all a bunch of johnny come lately poseurs and wash ups trying to stay afloat out of fear. http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_24041125/profit-colleges-soaking-up-tax-dollars-despite-student
Good read. Thanks for sharing. I hear the Academy of Art is a total racket.
Most of these places are at this point. If I’m not mistaken The AoA is actually primarily a real estate company with a school layered on top of it. Don’t quote me on that however, as I don’t remember where I heard it.
Great job Expressions’ talent!
lol, but I hate TubeMogul because this didn’t hire me. ‘-‘ I resent a lot of companies for that reason. I’m looking at you, Salesforce.com! Hah hah.
