North Oakland’s Golden Gate Neighborhood Second Saturdays events return

The E’ville Eye is happy to announce a new contributor, Triangle/Golden Gate Neighborhood border resident (and fellow French Bulldog enthusiast) Leslie Kurland. Leslie reached out to us wanting “to get more involved in the community” and we enthusiastically obliged. Leslie will be keeping better tabs of the Golden Gate/Triangle/Longfellow/Santa Fe neighborhood areas for us and the community. If you have any tips or inside scoops for her, feel free to email her at leslie@evilleeye.com.


Returning after a winter hiatus, the Golden Gate neighborhood’s first Second Saturday kicks off this weekend with new events, establishments and discounts. Organized by SPAGGIA (The San Pablo Avenue Golden Gate Improvement Association) the event’s goal is to encourage locals to connect and discover the neighborhoods many expanding offerings. Not quite the caliber of last years Love our Neighborhood Day, expect to meander, meet some neighbors and support local businesses.

Brand new for 2015:

  • Sneak peak at the Wolfhound Bar
  • Brews and bites at the Commonwealth Micropub
  • Storytelling at the recently renovated Golden Gate Library
  • Orientation and information exchange for urban chicken owners

Leslie Kurland

grew up in a small town and loves the sense of community she has found in the East Bay. A resident of the Golden Gate neighborhood since 2013, Leslie can be found taking her French Bulldog on walks, finding new places to eat and drink or playing soccer. A marketer by trade, Leslie also enjoys traveling, reading and conducting home improvement projects.
