E’ville’s 8th Annual shortest Duathlon this Saturday

April 9, 2014
1 min read

I guess it’s appropriate that the smallest city in the East Bay (and second smallest area-wise in the entire bay area after Belvedere) host the shortest Duathlon event. Typically the Shortest Triathlon Ever … the event will proceed as the shortest duathlon until the completion of the new ECCL facility swimming pool in 2015. Now in its 8th year, the event is the brainchild and primarily sponsored by Dr. Warren Strudwick’s The BOSS Foundation. The event is co-coordinated by the City of Emeryville Community Service Department, the Emeryville Chamber of Commerce, and On Your Mark Events. Strudwick is the team Physician for the Oakland Raiders and operates an Orthopedic practice here in Emeryville.

Proceeds from The Shortest Triathlon Ever will benefit the health and fitness programs for the students of the Emery Unified School District. This is a perfect event for everyone to knock out their first multi-sport event of 2014 – or the first one in their life. Multi-sport veterans also like to use this event to clear the “winter cobwebs” and prepare for their upcoming sport season. And, they love supporting all the newbies!

Dr. Warren Strudwick (White shirt) presents proceeds from the 2013 event to members of Emeryville’s City council, School District and staff.

The event had nearly 100 participants in 2013 and are hoping to double that this year! All proceeds go to EUSD Wellness Program via The Emery Ed Fund, and sponsorship is always sought and encouraged and volunteers are always needed. Even if you don’t participate, drop by city hall and help encourage others!
