One of E’ville’s most well-traveled intersections at Powell & Hollis (and a segment of the stalled “Greenway” project) is finally getting some action. The former dilapidated “Sushi Village” spot has reemerged as a promising new Bar & Grill to help entertain the expanding business community along Hollis street. Manager Alex Smith (NOT the 49ers QB), formerly of SF’s Gitane, has created a destination out of what was formerly a sparsely patronized, below-average sushi spot. Smith has crafted an artisanal beverage menu featuring housemade syrups that includes originals such as “The Von Teese”, “Black Sabbath” and “Guy Fawkes” (with Absinthe!). Bites by Stag Dining Group chef Jordan Grosser revolve around the prominent grill located in the heart of the bar including Short-Rib Sliders, Local Chilled Oysters, Bone Marrow and even a “Bucket o’ Yard Birds” (a Maple Sausage Biscuit with Sweet Potato Salad).
