While we’re certain this is an incomplete list, a few Emeryville Companies stood out in their generous efforts to help those impacted by the recent North Bay wildfires. Trader Vic’s, Clif Bar, Peet’s Coffee and Grocery Outlet all showcased their Corporate Social Responsibility values by making contributions including goods, financial contributions, human resources and donation drives.

Trader Vic’s

Trader Vic’s held an all day “Wildfire Donation Drive,” providing a drop-off hub for vital supplies like Ready-to-eat food items, New Clothing, Flashlights, Batteries, Pet Food/Supplies and Phone Chargers.

Eve Bergeron, the granddaughter of the legendary Vic himself, helped coordinate the efforts along with her staff. Vic’s received donations from community members as well as from Emeryville Four Points Hotel and fellow tiki bar Forbidden Island in Alameda.

The items were personally delivered to an evacuation center and the Santa Rosa Salvation Army.

Clif Bar & Company

Clif Bar CEO Kevin Cleary issued a personal letter through his Twitter account announcing his company’s commitment to assist those in need. Cleary, a North Bay native himself, expressed his personal sympathy for the families and the commitment by his company to provide $1 million in assistance through financial and product donations.

In addition, his company committed over 2000 employee hours through his company’s CLIF CORPS volunteer program. “In times like these, we’re reminded of the power of community. Like so many others in the Bay Area, we’re grieving for what’s been lost, but committed to the work ahead.”

Peet’s Coffee

Peet’s launched a nationwide campaign allowing customers to make in-person and online donations and matching these funds up to $20,000. 100% of donations will be distributed equally to four charities (Community Foundation of Sonoma County, Napa Valley Community Foundation, The Community Foundation of Mendocino County and North Coast Opportunities).

In addition, at least 100 Peet’s employees contributed an estimated 650 volunteer hours to serve coffee at local shelters and first responder dispatch centers. Firefighters and other first responders are invited to drink for free at all Peet’s locations through the end of the month.

Grocery Outlet

Grocery Outlet contributed $100,000 to fire relief efforts in Northern California last week through Tipping Point Community. The donation comes as dozens of Grocery Outlet stores have launched local donation drives for much-needed goods for victims and first-responders of the horrific fires that have affected tens of thousands of Californians.

    • Well, we’re not exactly a Fortune 500 company like those above but we chipped in proportionately. Hopefully we inspired a few others to donate through this and other stories.
